Plugged In: African Diaspora and Friends Luncheon
This Luncheon is a celebration of the rich and diverse culture of people of African and Afro-Caribbean descent and their friends. All are welcome to experience this event which will highlight events and people in the history of African diaspora. Dynamic speakers, some powerful praise and worship and a fun fellowship. As well as, featured music from Africa the continent, the Caribbeans, to modern jazzy, hiphop, rnb, and gospel influences. Delight your tastebuds with some of the more commonly known dishes, like coconut rice, fried plantains, beignets, fried chicken, and a variety of salads, Moroccan, Caribbean and Soul food.
Everyone is encouraged to wear culturally influenced attire. If you don't have anything Afro-centric wear something that reflects your culture.
Our aim with events like Plugged In: African Diaspora and Friends Luncheon is to harness the potential of people of the African Diaspora by first alleviating the continuing battle for African Self Worth that is often found in segments of Africa and the African Diaspora. We hope that hearing from Leaders, Legends and Visionaries (and continuing similar dialogues) will impact, elevate and inspire many to take action and become masters in situations in life that appeal to them.

Dr. Reverend Calvin O. Butts III
Reverend Dr. Calvin O. Butts III a native New Yorker, has dazzled the Abyssinian Baptist Church, and the populace with his bold eloquence. Reverend Butts has positioned the church well in ministry of service, from pastoral care to community development. His distinguished service has prompted recognition with numerous honors and awards including one we are so proud of Generation Bridge Award presented by Soul Night Events. Dr. Butts is President of the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Old Westbury. Dr. Butts, He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. He returned to New York and earned a Master of Divinity in Church History from Union Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate of Ministry in Church and Public Policy from Drew University in Madison, NJ. Reverend Butts was conferred with honorary degrees from Morehouse; The City College of New York; Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL; Claflin College of Orangeburg, SC; Dillard University, New Orleans, LA; Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA; and Trinity College, Hartford, CT. Dr Butts will tell you his best works achieved is his marriage to his wife Mrs. Patricia Butts, their three children and six grand children. Reverend Butt's continues to respond to his communities needs and those who know him are fond of his unusual directness and simplicity.
